BANDUNG - Joint officers managed to evacuate two camels (Struthio camelus) that had shocked local residents for roaming freely on Jalan Rancabolang, Buahbatu District, Bandung City, West Java.

Lurah Margasari Wahyu A Affandi said the camel was a pet belonging to one of the residents who escaped from the cage.

"Now the ostrich has been secured behind the owner's house," said Wahyu as reported by ANTARA, Monday, July 20.

He explained that there were two camels that had escaped and wandered in the neighborhood of residents, which attracted the attention of the surrounding community.

The two animals escaped because the fence was not locked during the process of moving to a new cage located at the back of the owner's house.

"So the domestic helper forgot to lock the gate. The owner has two and has been kept since childhood," he said.

Wahyu said the camel was just moved to a cage in the back of the house near the park. However, because the cage was not locked properly, the two animals managed to get out.

"Now it has been moved to a cage behind the house, near the park. It is likely that the information, his assistant forgot to lock it so it was released," he said.

According to Wahyu, the evacuation process went smoothly and the camels were finally successfully put back into the cage without causing casualties.

"Earlier, residents and the owner's domestic helper caught it. Thank God, there were no casualties. Linmas also went there and it turned out that it had entered the cage and was secured by the owner," said Wahyu.

Previously, the appearance of camels in the Rancabolang residential area had shocked residents after a number of amateur videos circulated on social media.

In the footage, the camel is seen walking on the highway, making a number of drivers pull over and attracting the attention of residents who gathered to watch it live.
