JAKARTA - Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha said on Thursday that potential talks between Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and Russian President Vladimir Putin could be held in Turkey as part of efforts to end the war.

"We state that negotiations, in particular the possibility of a meeting between President Zelenskyy and Putin, can take place in Turkey," Sybiha said at a joint press conference with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Kyiv, as reported by Anadolu (16/7).

Foreign Minister Sybiha said direct talks at the highest level could help advance efforts to end the war.

"I believe only a summit of leaders can give new momentum to the peace process," he said.

On the same occasion, he praised the efforts of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to end the conflict and described Ankara as one of the world's leading diplomatic centers.

"We must make the most of diplomacy and sit at the negotiating table to end this war," Sybiha said.

Furthermore, he said, Ukraine has repeatedly called for steps to end the conflict and has "real proposals" on how peace can be achieved.

"As Ukraine, we are ready for a ceasefire," he added.

However, Sybiha stressed that Kyiv would not accept any settlement that undermines the sovereignty or territorial integrity of the country.

"Ukraine will not accept any solution that harms our territorial integrity or sovereignty," he said.
