JAKARTA - The issue of air pollution in Indonesia is still a challenge that requires cross-sectoral collaboration. In addition to the government, academics, the business world, and the community, the younger generation also has a strategic role in presenting innovative and evidence-based policy ideas to encourage improvements in air quality.

As part of efforts to expand participation, Bicara Udara officially launched Biru Voices: Clean Air Policy Competition, a policy brief writing competition that invites active students from D3, D4, and S1 levels from across Indonesia to formulate recommendations for clean air policies based on data. Registration and collection of works are open from June 19 to July 24, 2026.

Through this competition, Bicara Udara wants to encourage the birth of a new generation of clean air drivers who not only understand air pollution issues, but are also able to translate field findings into relevant, applicable, and impactful policy recommendations. Novita Natalia, Co-Founder of Bicara Udara, Wednesday, July 15, said, through the Clean Air Policy Competition, students can hone their ability to analyze and formulate public policy recommendations or policy briefs, as well as contribute to discussions on air pollution solutions.

In this competition, participants will prepare a policy brief based on one of four subthemes, namely Fiscal Instruments and Financing for Air Pollution Control, Governance Reform and Institutional Coordination of Air Quality, Policy Interventions on Emission Sources, and Public Health Policy and Vulnerable Group Protection.

Each team consisting of a maximum of three students from the same university is required to prepare a policy brief document in accordance with the specified format. In addition, participants are also asked to create Instagram Reels content that raises air pollution issues based on the selected sub-themes as part of an effort to expand education to the public.

Not only competing, participants will also have access to various learning resources. Air Talk organizes a series of Roadshows which will take place from June 19 to July 17, 2026, as well as providing a Knowledge Hub containing policy modules, research results, and interviews with experts as a reference for the preparation of works.

The team that successfully passes the administrative selection and substantive assessment will be announced on August 14, 2026. Furthermore, the finalists will attend an exclusive mentoring session with practitioners and public policy experts on August 20, 2026, before presenting their policy recommendations to stakeholders in the Clean Air Forum which will be held on September 3, 2026 in Jakarta.

In addition to competing for a total prize of IDR 30 million, the finalists will also receive various capacity development opportunities, ranging from mentoring with public policy practitioners, company visits to the clean air ecosystem network, to the opportunity to become Biru Voices Ambassadors 2026 who will be involved in various education and advocacy programs. Air Talk in the future.

"Through Biru Voices: Clean Air Policy Competition, Bicara Udara hopes that more students will be encouraged to contribute to the preparation of data-based policy solutions, so that efforts to realize cleaner air in Indonesia can be carried out collaboratively and sustainably," concluded Novita.
