JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Transportation Office (Dishub) has imposed traffic engineering in the Jalan Kapten Piere Tendean area, South Jakarta, in line with the demolition of the damaged Pedestrian Crossing Bridge (JPO) after being hit by a crane-carrying truck.
The demolition of the JPO was carried out by the DKI Jakarta Provincial Road Development Service on Tuesday, July 14, starting at 12.00 WIB until it was completed. During the work, vehicle traffic on a number of road sections was diverted to reduce congestion while maintaining road user safety.
Head of the South Jakarta Transportation Office Bernad Octavianus Pasaribu said traffic engineering had been prepared with the police at a number of points affected by the demolition.
"Together with the Police, we have prepared traffic engineering on a number of affected roads. The public is urged to adjust travel times, use alternative routes, and follow the instructions of officers in the field so that the demolition process can take place safely," Bernad said in a statement, Tuesday, July 14.
The traffic engineering that is enforced includes vehicles from the South to the West which are diverted through the Kuningan Underpass - HR Rasuna Said Canal Road - General Gatot Subroto Road - General Sudirman Road - Senopati Road - Suryo Road, or through Duren Bangka Road - Kemang Utara Road - Bangka Road and so on.
Meanwhile, vehicles from the North to the West are diverted through Jalan Terusan HR Rasuna Said - U-turn - Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto - Jalan Jenderal Sudirman - Jalan Senopati - Jalan Suryo.
For vehicles from the East to the West, the diversion is carried out through Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto - Jalan Jenderal Sudirman - Jalan Senopati - Jalan Suryo, or through Jalan Mampang Prapatan - Jalan Duren Bangka - Jalan Kemang Utara - Jalan Bangka and so on.
Vehicles from the west, namely Jalan Wijaya I and Jalan Suryo to the east, are diverted through Jalan Wolter Monginsidi - Jalan Pattimura - Jalan Jenderal Sudirman - Kupingan Semanggi - Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto.
DKI Dishub also appealed to the public to avoid the Jalan Kapten Tendean area during the demolition process if they did not have urgent interests. Officers will be alerted in the field to manage traffic until the JPO demolition work is completed.
Dishub deployed 30 personnel to manage traffic following the incident of a crane-carrying truck crashing into the Orang Crossing Bridge (JPO) on Jalan Kapten Tendean, Mampang Prapatan, South Jakarta. Damage to the bridge structure made the JPO decided to be dismantled.
Head of the South Jakarta Transportation Office, Bernad Octavianus Pasaribu, said dozens of officers were on alert at four points, namely the scene, the Mampang underpass, the Mampang flyover, and the Santa Market Traffic Light. The arrangement was made to anticipate traffic congestion during the evacuation process and the demolition of the JPO.
Head of the South Jakarta Road Development Sub-Office, Rifki Rismal, said the assessment results showed that the JPO structure had suffered severe damage to the foundation of the pillar so that it was no longer safe to maintain.
"The demolition will be carried out after the morning rush hour ends with traffic arrangements with the Transportation Service and the Police," said Rifki.
