Iran Military Says Risk of Regional War Rises After US Attack

JAKARTA - The spokesperson for the highest joint military command of Iran, the Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters, said the risk of regional conflict had increased following the US attack on Iran this weekend.

While condemning repeated provocations and actions that disrupt stability by the United States, Ebrahim Zolfaghari said the cooperation of a number of countries in the region has also increased the risk of the war spreading to the entire region.

"The Iranian military will respond firmly to any interference or threat to commercial ship traffic and oil tankers carried out by the US," Zolfaghari said, quoted by CNN from IRIB, Monday, July 13.

He said the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) had proved this in recent days.

"The leaders of the countries in the region are warned that any cooperation with the United States or the provision of logistical support for its military will be considered an act of war against Iran's sovereignty and national security," he said.

"If the conflict spreads, the flames of war will engulf the entire region," Zolfaghari added.
