Entering the Stock Exchange PBNU General Chair, This is What Zulfa Mustofa Said

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of the General Board of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), Kiai Zulfa Mustofa, spoke out about his name being included in the PBNU General Chair candidate exchange ahead of the 35th Nahdlatul Ulama Congress.

"If it is a request from the branch and regional managers, I can't refuse," he said.

Zulfa emphasized that the process of electing the PBNU General Chairperson must be placed as part of the effort to maintain the dignity, unity, and future of the jama'iyah.

NU leadership, according to him, is not only related to structural positions, but also contains a great responsibility to maintain the tradition of scholarship, care for the community, and present NU as a moral compass for the nation.

On the same occasion, KIai Abdullah Syamsul Arifin, Chairman of the PBNU Dakwah Institution, emphasized that there were more and more aspirations from NU regional and branch managers who asked Kiai Zulfa to run for candidacy at the muktamar.

"He became an icon of change in NU," said Kyai Abdullah.

The statement of these two NU figures was delivered after Kiai Zulfa launched Ithafu Ummati Al Muqtafa, a work that compiles four Arabic-language books on the methodology of Bahtsul Masail, ushul fiqh, contemporary fatwas, and the intellectual history of Syekh Nawawi al-Bantani.

The launch of the book is an affirmation that the tradition of Nahdlatul Ulama's ulama should not stop at study, lectures, and the transmission of knowledge orally.

Ulama and young generations of pesantren also need to revive the tradition of writing and producing works that can be passed on to the next generation.

"Alhamdulillah, I was able to complete a work that I named Ithafu Ummati Al Muqtafa. If translated freely, this is a gift for the people of Kanjeng Nabi Muhammad SAW. It contains four books; three in the field of fiqh and ushul fiqh, and one book about the biography and history of Syekh Nawawi al-Bantani," said Zulfa.

The four books bring together the wealth of classical fiqh treasures with the problems faced by modern society, ranging from digital transactions, public policies, the dynamics of fatwa institutions, to the instant spread of religious views through social media.
