BANDUNG - Around 8,000 nutrition activists from various regions in Indonesia declared the National Nutrition Fulfillment Association (APGIN) in Bandung, Wednesday (1/7/2026). This organization immediately targets the preparation of a national nutrition fulfillment roadmap that will be submitted to the government as input for policy improvement.

APGIN stated that it was present as a strategic partner of the government in supporting nutrition fulfillment programs, including the Free Nutritious Meal Program (MBG), without taking over the duties of the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) or the nutritionist profession.

The Secretary General of APGIN, Drs. H. Cucu Sutara, M.M., said that the organization will contribute through studies, recommendations, and the preparation of data-based policies.

"We are here to provide input and support the government. APGIN is not a program implementer, but a partner that contributes ideas," he said.

The Chairman of APGIN, Dr. Ir. Eri Purnomohadi, M.M., said the formation of this organization was based on the need to strengthen the nutrition fulfillment program so that it runs more directed, measurable, and targeted.

According to him, after more than a year of the nutrition fulfillment program, a roadmap is needed that is able to synergize various stakeholders while ensuring that the benefits of the program reach the most needy groups, such as pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, toddlers, and people in remote areas.

"APGIN will draw up a roadmap so that the national nutrition fulfillment program is really targeted and reaches the most needy people," he said.

Eri assessed that West Java is one of the areas that requires special attention because it has the largest population in Indonesia. At the same time, there are still challenges in meeting nutrition in a number of regions.

He also assessed that the nutrition fulfillment program not only has an impact on public health, but also helps to stimulate the regional economy. Government spending for the provision of nutritious food is considered capable of creating economic circulation up to the village level.

APGIN will form a council of experts involving academics to draft academic manuscripts and roadmaps for national nutrition fulfillment. The document will be submitted to the government as a recommendation for improving the governance of the program.

Responding to the potential overlap with BGN, Eri emphasized that APGIN is positioned as a strategic partner of the government. The organization will contribute through the formulation of standards, improvement of human resource quality, competence certification, to policy recommendations without entering the authority of state institutions.

In addition, APGIN stated that it was ready to support the improvement of the standard of kitchens for nutritious food providers, including in remote areas.

Currently, APGIN claims to have around 8,000 members from West Java, Central Java, East Java, Sumatra, and a number of other areas. In the near future, the organization plans to hold a workshop with BGN, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Manpower, and other stakeholders to draft a roadmap for national nutrition fulfillment.

APGIN will also propose the drafting of a Nutrition Fulfillment Law and encourage the expansion of food assistance programs for the elderly as part of recommendations to the government.
