JAKARTA - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo handed over capital assistance to traders in Wage Market, Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, who were victims of fires in 2020.

The aid, which reached Rp. 2 billion, was symbolically handed over by Ganjar to representatives of traders at Pasar Wage, Purwokerto, each amounting to Rp. 15 million.

"The regent (Regent of Banyumas Achmad Husein, ed.) yesterday contacted us, sent a letter to help friends who were victims of the fire. Today, June 10, we are trying to provide assistance to traders and God willing, we will help again," said Ganjar reported by Antara, Thursday, June 10.

According to him, the Regent of Banyumas has coordinated regarding the development of the Wage Market due to a limited budget, so mutual cooperation must be carried out.

"We prepared the construction, yesterday the proposal from here was Rp. 15 billion, so we will consider it. Yesterday there were calculations from the Central Java Provincial Government, maybe Rp. 10 billion was enough for renovations," he explained.

However, he said that his party would immediately provide assistance for the renovation of the market and it might be taken in the 2022 Fiscal Year.

"We will provide it immediately, so that traders can immediately return to selling. Maybe use the 2022 budget," he said, asserting.

One of the traders, Sukirno (59), said he was grateful for getting help from the Central Java Provincial Government.

"Alhamdulillah, thank you Pak Ganjar. This assistance can be used to increase capital," he said.

On that occasion, he recounted the fire incident that hit the Wage Market in 2020.

At that time, he was selling with other traders, but suddenly someone shouted if there was a fire and it turned out that the fire was very big.

"I couldn't save my things, I immediately ran to save myself. After all, nothing was saved," he said.
