JAKARTA - Vice President Gibran Rakabuming emphasized the government's commitment to accelerate the revitalization of schools in the lagging, leading, and outermost (3T) areas when reviewing the Wolomoni Elementary School, Niowula Village, Detusoko District, Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara.
"Basically, in this 3T area, we prioritize," said Vice President Gibran Rakabuming in Ende, quoted by ANTARA, Friday, June 19.
The Vice President made this commitment after hearing directly the aspirations of local residents regarding the limitations of school facilities and infrastructure, during a working visit to Ende, Thursday (18/6).
One of the parents had complained directly about the condition of the security barrier in the children's learning area.
"We ask for help with school fences because we are still using wood, damar, bamboo, school fences here," the school principal told the Vice President.
Responding to this, the Vice President ensured that the needs of schools in the area would be part of the school revitalization program launched by President Prabowo Subianto.
The Vice President added that his party would include the school proposal in the development agenda.
Previously, the Vice President also reviewed SMP Negeri 1 Ndona which still faced various infrastructure limitations. The school was reported to still have difficulty accessing mobile and internet networks, clean water availability, school fences, to information and communication technology (ICT) facilities.
Head of SMP Negeri 1 Ndona Sofia Ere conveyed that the government's attention through the revitalization program was very needed to answer the real needs of schools in the 3T area.
Sofia hopes that needs such as internet networks, clean water boreholes, school fences, and ICT facilities can be met immediately through this program.
In line with this, the head of SD Wolomoni Yohanes said his school was ready to support the digitization of learning.
However, he did not deny the limitations of access to mobile networks and the internet is still a major challenge for teachers and students.
Yohanes hopes that the revitalization process can answer the needs of the school comprehensively. These needs include ICT facilities, internet networks, to the provision of a teacher's residence.
