Speaking at the ASEAN-Russia Commemorative Summit Plenary Session which was part of the 35th Anniversary of the ASEAN-Russia Partnership Summit in Kazan, Russia on June 18, 2026, Foreign Minister Sugiono praised Russia as one of the world's major energy producers that could become an important partner for ASEAN in strengthening energy resilience.
"Indonesia, on the other hand, is committed to achieving energy self-sufficiency in the next three years," said Foreign Minister Sugiono, launching his speech which was shared by the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Thursday (18/6).
"We are accelerating the development of renewable energy and exploring all available options, including the use of safe and peaceful civil nuclear technology," he explained.
"Russia's extensive experience in this field provides a solid foundation for cooperation. We are looking for partnerships built on technology transfer, human resource development, and the highest international safety standards," said Foreign Minister Sugiono.
