Government Assures Readiness of Food Reserves and Agricultural Infrastructure, Facing El Nino Godziilla

Jakarta - Minister of Agriculture (Mentan) Andi Amran Sulaiman revealed the results of a conversation with President Prabowo Subianto at the Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, Thursday, June 18.

According to Minister of Agriculture Arman, President Prabowo wants to ensure the availability of national food stocks and agricultural infrastructure in the face of potential impacts of the Godzilla El Nino climate phenomenon. Minister of Agriculture Amran explained that the national rice reserves until June 2026 reached around 5.2 million tons.

According to him, this amount is enough to meet national needs in the next few months. In addition to food reserves, Minister Amran said that the government has also ensured the readiness of various agricultural infrastructure as a mitigation step in the face of the Godzilla El Nino risk.

Efforts include the construction of ponds, pump irrigation, deep wells, pompanization programs, land optimization, to the printing of new rice fields. In the livestock sector, Minister Amran said that the government also continues to maintain the stability of egg prices through collaboration with various parties, ranging from farmers to the National Nutrition Agency (BGN).

Furthermore, Minister Amran explained that the government is also continuing to accelerate the downstreaming program of the horticulture sector, including coffee, coconut, and sugar cane commodities.

In addition, the government will continue to distribute various assistance to the regions to support the acceleration of agricultural sector development.

With strong food reserves and continuously strengthened agricultural infrastructure, as well as direct support to farmers, the government is optimistic that Indonesia will be able to face the threat of Godzilla El Nino while maintaining national food stability and community welfare.
