TEMANGGUNG - The price of beef in a number of traditional markets in Temanggung Regency, Central Java, has increased from Rp. 135,000 per kilogram to Rp. 145,000 per kilogram in recent days.

Head of the Regional Technical Implementation Unit (UPTD) of Kliwon Rejo Market, Amertani Temanggung, Aditya Hendi Kurniawan said the price increase was triggered by the increase in the price of live cattle at the level of farmers.

According to him, the current live cattle price has increased by around Rp2 million to Rp3 million per head compared to before, which has an impact on the selling price of meat in the market.

"This condition has an impact on the increase in the selling price of meat at the market level, and traders have now adjusted prices to cover higher purchase costs," said Aditya in Temanggung, Antara, Thursday, June 18.

He said the local government would prepare market operations if the price of beef continued to rise.

However, Aditya ensured that the availability of beef in Temanggung was still safe and sufficient for the community's needs.

"We appeal to the public not to buy in bulk because the stock is available. On the other hand, traders at the Kliwon Market keep the price from going too high, because if it is too high, consumers will reduce their purchases," he said.

In addition to monitoring prices every day, his party also continues to coordinate with slaughterhouses to ensure that the supply of beef is maintained.

According to him, the supply of beef at the Kliwon Market averages 5 to 6 quintals per day and is still able to meet community needs.

Meanwhile, one of the beef traders at the Kliwon Market, Mega, said the price increase had started to occur in the last few days.

He said that before Eid al-Adha, the price of beef was still in the range of Rp. 135,000 per kilogram. However, now the price has risen to Rp. 145,000 per kilogram.

"The increase in meat is because the price of cattle is expensive, at the farmer level the price is high," he said.
