Finding Two Sufficient Evidence, KPK Can Name Azis Syamsuddin As A Suspect

JAKARTA - Criminal law expert, Abdul Fickar Hajar, assesses that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has been able to decide the legal status of the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Aziz Syamsudin. The reason is that two pieces of evidence have been found from two witnesses.

According to him, the evidence is sufficient to determine someone as a suspect in the case.

"Yes, if there is enough evidence, the KPK can already name him as a suspect," said Fickar in his statement, Thursday, June 9.

Fickar said that the crime committed by former KPK investigator Stepanus Robin Pattuju (SRP) could not have happened without the role of Azis Syamsuddin.

"If you look at the incident, then the crime committed by the SRP did not occur without its role", said Fickar.

It is known that the Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Azis Syamsuddin, fulfilled the summons of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). He was present at the KPK's Red and White Building, Kuningan Persada, South Jakarta at around 08.40 WIB.

The Golkar Party politician is being questioned as a witness for the alleged bribe recipient and former KPK investigator, Stepanus Robin Pattuju. The receipt of this bribe was carried out to stop the investigation of the case at the Tanjungbalai City Government which ensnared the Mayor of Tanjungbalai, M Syahrial.

"Witness Azis Syamsudin has been present at the KPK's Red and White Building to fulfill the summons of KPK investigators", KPK Spokesperson for Enforcement Affairs Ali Fikri told reporters, Wednesday, June 9.

Furthermore, the process of examining Azis is still being carried out. "The progress will be conveyed", he said.
