Jakut SDA Task Force Repairs Turap Kali that Landslide in Kelapa Gading

JAKARTA - The North Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Division carried out repairs to the creek that collapsed due to mud dredging in the Pegangsaan area, Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, Sunday, June 14.

The North Jakarta SDA Sub-Directorate, Heria Suwandi, said that the process of repairing the pavement was still being carried out, and the work was targeted to be completed by the end of June.

"Regarding the handling of the landslide, the length is 25 meters with a height of 2.5 meters. So this is a repair of the landslide that collapsed due to dredging of cementation," said Heria when confirmed.

The collapse of the embankment in the river was due to the old embankment construction, so when dredging was carried out on the sediment in the river, the old embankment foundation would collapse.

"Turap previously, the construction has been long so if we do dredging with heavy equipment, it is indeed a potential for landslides to occur. Everywhere like that, because the concept in the old turap is so that with this dredging it causes the legs of the old turap to go down," he said.

The landslide of the embankment was caused by the activity of dredging the mud sediment so that there was a decrease in the level of the old embankment foundation.

"It is estimated that the repair of the pavement will be completed by the end of this month," he said.

The repair of the trench was using a stone material which was used as a construction of the damaged and collapsed embankment.

Meanwhile, the activity of dredging the sediment of the mud in the river is still being continued to avoid the river silting.

"The dredging of sediment (mud) is still going on there. However, the dredging point segment has shifted to another point in the river," he said.
