Most Indonesian Students Study in Russia for Free

JAKARTA - This academic year, more than 500 Indonesian students are studying at various universities in Russia. Most of them receive higher education without tuition fees through quotas provided by the Russian Government.

Modern education system in Russia allows students to acquire a solid foundation of knowledge and high qualifications in various fields that are most relevant today. During their studies, students can use the latest equipment in university laboratories and undergo internships in leading companies.

Russia is one of the world's leading centers of higher education and training of specialists, ranking seventh in global education exports. Currently, about 400,000 international students are studying in Russia, while more than 1.5 million foreign graduates from Russian and Soviet educational institutions work in more than 180 countries.

The fields of study most sought after by Indonesian students in Russia include international relations, management, medicine, and oil and gas. The process of accepting students for paid programs at Russian universities begins in June. To apply, prospective students need to choose a university of destination and submit documents via the university's website, the university's admission committee (if available), the Ru.ID platform, or directly through the university's admission committee if they come to the campus directly.

In the process, prospective students may be required to take exams and interviews. The type of exam and tuition fees vary depending on the university and the study program chosen.

The opportunity to study for free is available through two channels. First, through the quota given by the Government of the Russian Federation. Second, by becoming a winner or runner-up in the Olympics organized by Russian universities or international Olympics.

The Russian Ministry of Education and Science is working to ensure that talented students from abroad can fully focus on their studies and feel as comfortable as possible while in our country," said Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Russia, Andrey Omelchuk, quoted Friday, June 12.
