JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has given the green light to Regional Owned Enterprises (BUMD) and Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD) to hold a 2026 World Cup together (nobar). However, he reminded that the activity should not interfere with public services or the work activities of employees.
According to Pramono, a number of BUMD and OPD have submitted requests to hold live broadcasts of the World Cup matches which this year will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
"First, many of our BUMD and OPD-OPD have asked to be allowed to broadcast the World Cup live," Pramono told reporters, Thursday, June 11.
However, the DKI Provincial Government pays attention to the schedule of matches which mostly take place in the morning to noon Indonesian time. This condition is considered potentially clashing with the working hours of the civil servants and the service activities to the community.
"The problem is that because it's the day, the hours are the hours people work. The most important thing is not to disturb people who are working. Because the hours are the hours people work," he said.
Pramono assessed that the issue of time was a challenge in implementing nobar in the government environment. Therefore, the activity must be carefully regulated so as not to have an impact on productivity and public services.
"Most of them are at 9, 10, 11, so this is a problem in itself if it is not managed well," he said.
Although he reminded them of work discipline, Pramono admitted that he did not want to close the space for the public and the apparatus to enjoy the world's largest football party. Moreover, according to him, the 2026 World Cup has a wider appeal than just a sports match.
"The public also needs to take advantage of the World Cup which I think is becoming more interesting because it is not only a matter of the ball, but when geopolitics like this, so it becomes more interesting," he added.
