BANDUNG - The Bandung District Attorney's Office has stopped investigating the alleged corruption case that ensnared Deputy Mayor of Bandung Erwin and Bandung City DPRD member Rendiana Awangga through the issuance of a Letter of Order to Stop the Investigation (SP3).
Head of the Bandung District Attorney's Office Abun Hasbuloh Sambas said the termination of the investigation was carried out to provide legal certainty after investigators did not find enough elements to continue the case.
"However, on the record, if this case later has witnesses or other evidence related to these actions, (the case) will be opened," said Abun in Bandung, Wednesday, June 3, as reported by ANTARA.
With the issuance of SP3, he said, the status of the suspect who was previously pinned on Erwin and Rendiana Awangga was automatically dropped.
"With this, the status of the two suspects has been dropped," he said.
Abun explained that the investigation into the case had been ongoing since October 2025. At that time, investigators named the two people as suspects based on two pieces of evidence and statements from 89 witnesses who had been examined.
However, after the implementation of the new Criminal Code and Criminal Procedure Code, his party conducted further in-depth research with the principle of caution, including tracing the alleged flow of funds related to the case.
According to him, during the investigation process and several times in the last five months, investigators did not find any flow of funds that were actually received by the two suspects.
"There is no flow of funds that has been clearly received by the suspects," he said.
He added that these conditions caused the elements of corruption as regulated in the law to have not been met so that the investigation could not continue.
However, the Bandung District Attorney's Office emphasized that the termination of the investigation did not mean that the case was permanently closed. The investigation can be reopened if, at a later date, new evidence or information relevant to the case is found.
Previously, the Bandung City Prosecutor's Office named Bandung Deputy Mayor Erwin along with Bandung City DPRD member Rendiana Awangga as suspects in a corruption case related to the abuse of authority in the Bandung City Government environment in 2025.
The two are suspected of asking for a number of procurement projects for goods and services to be directed to parties affiliated with them.
