JAKARTA - Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi on Friday expressed solidarity with Oman Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi in the face of US threats regarding the Strait of Hormuz, adding that the two sides discussed the management of the strait in the future.

"In a very productive conversation with the Foreign Minister [Badr al-Busaidi], I expressed Iran's solidarity with Oman in the face of any threat. We discussed Hormuz and its management in the future in accordance with our sovereign responsibilities and international law," Araghchi wrote on X.

He also emphasized that both parties called for consultations with all neighboring countries.

Earlier on Wednesday, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent warned Oman that the US would pursue anyone who facilitated the collection of Iranian transit fees through the Strait of Hormuz, while US President Donald Trump threatened to "blow up" Oman if the country tried to take control of the strait.

The United States and Israel began attacking targets in Iranian territory on February 28. Iran retaliated with attacks on Israel and US bases in the Persian Gulf countries.

On April 7, Washington and Tehran announced a ceasefire. Currently, both parties are working on a memorandum of understanding on a complete cessation of hostilities.
