Amblas Lenteng Agung Road Causes Severe Traffic, Car Heading to Depok Turned Around

Jalan amblas di Jalan Raya Lenteng Agung, Jakarta Selatan, membuat arus lalu lintas menuju Depok lumpuh pada hari ini. Dua lajur jalan di dekat Gang Empang, depan Bengkel Alpino Knalpot, tak bisa dilintasi kendaraan akibat amblesnya badan jalan.

For the time being, the DKI Provincial Government is implementing traffic engineering to disperse the congestion that is flowing in the area. Four-wheeled vehicles for the University of Indonesia (UI) and Depok are diverted to turn through alternative routes.

Acting Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Office Ujang Hermawan said that traffic arrangements were carried out to maintain the safety of road users while reducing vehicle density around the landslide location.

"We understand that community activities are disrupted due to this poor road condition. For this reason, traffic arrangements and diversion are immediately carried out to reduce density while ensuring that road user safety is maintained. We also apologize for the inconvenience," said Ujang in his statement, Friday, May 29.

DKI's Dishub is still opening one right lane for two-wheeled vehicles. However, the flow diversion is carried out on a situational basis through Gardu Street until it penetrates the UI Access Road.

Meanwhile, four-wheeled vehicles for Depok are directed to turn around at the Pancasila University Railway Crossing. Drivers are then diverted across Jalan Lenteng Agung Barat, Jalan Kahfi II, Jalan Tanah Baru to Depok Sawangan.

For heavy-tonnage vehicles, the diversion is carried out further from Simpang TB Simatupang to Depok-Antasari Toll Road or through Bogor Highway and Jagorawi Toll Road.

"We remind the public to remain vigilant when passing around the location and to use alternative routes as much as possible," said Ujang.

According to him, the road damage was actually detected since Wednesday, May 27. Initial handling was carried out using coldmix material by the South Jakarta Regional Office of Road Construction before the road condition finally deteriorated.

"The Road Construction Department has also coordinated with the South Jakarta Water Resources (SDA) Department to trace the cause of the damage. Based on initial assumptions, the road collapse was triggered by a disturbance in the water channel under the road body," he explained.

The DKI Provincial Government is now deploying 20 Dishub personnel in the field to disperse vehicle density during the repair process.
