MATARAM - The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) revealed the handling of the case of alleged fraud or embezzlement of the sale and purchase of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) location in East Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara, with a loss of IDR 950 million.
Deputy Head of BGN Sony Sonjaya said that the case handled by the East Lombok Police was a follow-up to public complaints regarding the practice of abuse of the verification process of the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program.
"East Lombok Police handled this case after following up on information from the victims who appeared in the media. They were victims of individuals who took advantage of the MBG verification process," Sony said at a press conference at the West Nusa Tenggara Police, Mataram City, Friday, May 29, reported by ANTARA.
Sony explained that the modus operandi used in the case was similar to that in a number of other areas, namely the perpetrator claimed to have a relationship with BGN officials and used photos as proof of closeness.
Meanwhile, the East Lombok Police Chief AKBP I Komang Sarjana confirmed that his party had received reports from the public since February 16, 2026 and increased the handling of the case to the investigation stage on May 21, 2026.
"On May 29, 2026, we will issue an investigation order," said Komang.
He said the reported initials S were charged with Article 492 and/or Article 486 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
Komang explained that the perpetrator allegedly promised the location of the MBG kitchen and the construction of facilities that were claimed to be operational soon. However, the facility has not been operational even though the building is available.
Investigators have not detailed the number of victims or the exact location of the incident in the case. The damage caused is estimated to reach IDR 950 million.
