JAKARTA - The Judicial Commission (KY) has begun investigating reports of alleged violations of the code of ethics and guidelines for the conduct of judges against the panel of judges of the Jakarta Military Court II-08 which handles the case of water spraying against Deputy Coordinator of KontraS Andrie Yunus.

KY Commissioner Abhan said his agency would conduct further verification of the report submitted by the Advocacy for Democracy (TAUD) Team, including asking for information from the reporting party.

"Of course, we will also verify the reporting party, the complainant, to ask for more information," said Abhan as quoted by ANTARA, Tuesday, May 26.

The report was previously submitted by TAUD to the Supreme Court and the Judicial Commission on May 18, 2026 regarding alleged violations of ethics in handling cases at the Jakarta Military Court II-08.

Abhan said KY was still conducting initial in-depth research and had not decided on other parties who would be questioned in the examination process.

When asked about the possibility of summoning the victim in the clarification process, he said that it still depended on the results of the in-depth report.

"Later we will see the development of the investigation," he said.

However, KY ensured that the reporter would be the first party to be asked for clarification to strengthen the complaint material.

"Especially the reporter, of course, we will ask for further information," said Abhan.

KY has the authority to conduct an investigation into alleged violations of the code of ethics and guidelines for the conduct of judges based on public reports and internal findings.

"The results of the examination can be the basis for recommending ethical action against the reported judge," he said.

The case of alleged water spraying against Andrie Yunus had previously attracted the attention of civil society groups because it was considered related to the protection of human rights defenders and civil liberties.
