JAKARTA - Spanish Foreign Minister Jose Manuel Albares said Spanish citizens who were detained by Israel in the middle of the Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian mission to Gaza, will be deported via Turkey on Thursday.

"The Spanish consul in Israel has just informed us that they seem to have been transferred to Ramon Airport, along with other activists to be deported... via Turkey," Albares told the La Hora de La 1 television station, Thursday, May 21, reported by ANTARA from Anadolu.

However, he noted that it had not been officially confirmed.

"That is what has been discussed among the consuls and based on field observations," said Albares.

The Global Sumud humanitarian aid fleet said on Tuesday (19/5), all 50 ships in its convoy had been intercepted by Israeli forces.

The fleet of ships carrying 428 people from 44 countries left last week from the Turkish district of Marmaris in a latest attempt to break through Israel's illegal blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip since 2007.
