HNSI Appreciates President Prabowo's Commitment to Improve the Welfare of Indonesian Fishermen

JAKARTA - The Indonesian Fishermen Association (HNSI) expressed appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto's speech at the 19th DPR plenary session.

In his speech on Wednesday, May 20, President Prabowo emphasized the government's commitment to improving the welfare of fishermen through the development of various supporting facilities for the fisheries and marine sectors, including ice plants, cold storage, fish processing units, and ship docking facilities to strengthen the productivity and competitiveness of Indonesian fishermen.

Secretary General of the All Indonesia Fishermen Association (HNSI), Lydia Assegaf, on behalf of fishermen throughout Indonesia, expressed appreciation for the seriousness of the government in paying attention to the national fisheries sector.

"We represent fishermen throughout Indonesia appreciate the commitment and seriousness of President Prabowo in efforts to improve the welfare of Indonesian fishermen. The development of ice plants, cold storage, fish processing units to ship docking is an important need that fishermen have felt for a long time," said Lydia Assegaf in a statement, Wednesday, May 20.

The Secretary General of HNSI also expressed full support for the Red and White Fishermen's Village program, which is currently in the development process in various regions of Indonesia.

According to him, the program is expected to be able to become a center for strengthening the economy of coastal communities, as well as encouraging the sustainable improvement of the quality of life of fishermen and their families.

"HNSI fully supports the Red and White Fishermen's Village program which is currently underway throughout Indonesia. This program is a strategic step to strengthen the marine sector and improve the welfare of fishermen," said Lydia Assegaf.

On this occasion, the Indonesian Fishermen Association was also invited to attend the 19th DPR-RI Plenary Meeting directly as a form of involvement and representation of the fishing community in the national agenda which discusses the direction of national development, especially in the marine and fisheries sector.

HNSI hopes that various programs that have been submitted by the President can be immediately realized optimally and accurately so that they have a real impact on improving the welfare of fishermen throughout Indonesia.
