TEMANGGUNG - Head of the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) Temanggung Regency, Central Java, AKBP Agung Prabowo asked the public to be aware of the circulation of gorilla tobacco.

This was conveyed by AKBP Agung after a discussion on the role of the media in making Temanggung Shine and a City Responding to Drug Threats, Tuesday, June 8.

"Obviously, it is difficult to distinguish tobacco produced by Temanggung farmers from synthetic tobacco containing narcotics, which is often called gorilla tobacco," he said in Temanggung as reported by Antara.

AKBP Agung added that the most striking difference between gorilla tobacco and ordinary tobacco was the price and laboratory tests. Conventional ways such as kissing or touching are quite difficult.

He said that during the socialization at one of the youth groups, his party brought samples of gorilla tobacco to compare with tobacco in Temanggung. It turns out that they are difficult to distinguish.

Circulation of this drug is not only in public schools but can be entered in boarding schools.

"If the gorilla tobacco is ordered at the lodge, no one knows, maybe the ustaz does not know which one is real tobacco and which one is not. If the smoker admits it is just ordinary tobacco," he said.

AKBP Agung added that he needed to convey this considering that his party had examined one of the boarding school children who used this type of drug.

"We are now intensively conducting socialization in villages, especially tobacco-producing villages so that people do not use these illegal drugs with the excuse of increasing stamina when working overtime to chop tobacco," he said.

He mentioned that from 10 villages he visited during the socialization. On average, there are villagers who admit to using illegal drugs to increase stamina.
