JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung said the Tian Fu Gong Temple in the Riverwalk Island area, Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2 can be a symbol and destination for religious and cultural tourism.

"The construction of this temple is not just a physical construction, but an important symbol of harmony, unity, togetherness, and tolerance between religious people in Jakarta society," said Pramono when inaugurating the Tian Fu Gong Temple in the Riverwalk Island area, PIK 2, North Jakarta, Sunday.

This temple is expected to become a symbol of diversity, tolerance, and harmony among religious communities in Jakarta.

In his remarks, Pramono appreciated the people, the managers of the Sanggar Sinar Suci Foundation, and various parties who collaborated to build the temple.

Diversity is one of the main foundations of the development of Jakarta as a global city. According to him, the progress of the city is not only measured by economic growth and infrastructure development, but also by social harmony and the quality of people's spiritual life.

"Jakarta as a global city that is progressive, inclusive, and sustainable is certainly our common hope. Therefore, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government continues to be committed to supporting freedom of religion by ensuring that every citizen has a safe and decent space to carry out worship," explained Pramono.

In addition to being a place of worship and strengthening spirituality, he hopes that the Tian Fu Gong Temple can develop into a center for social interaction, cultural preservation, as well as a religious and cultural tourism destination in Jakarta.

"I hope this temple will become a center of social interaction that spreads the spirit of humanity regardless of differences, as well as a religious and cultural tourism destination that strengthens Jakarta's identity as a global city that values traditional heritage," he said.

Pramono also highlighted the Riverwalk Island PIK 2 area which presents various houses of worship in one area, ranging from the Al-Ikhlas Mosque, a house of worship for Buddhists, Tian Fu Gong Temple for Tridharma/Taoism, to plans to build a Catholic church.

According to him, the existence of four houses of worship in one area reflects the diversity of Indonesia.

"If there are four places of worship here and they are all peaceful, this is a mirror of diversity that we must protect together. Even though it is privately managed, this area shows how tolerance and togetherness are really realized. And this is Indonesia," said Pramono.

In addition, he also assessed that the concept of developing an integrated religious area in PIK 2 has great tourist appeal.

He revealed that the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is considering the development of transportation connectivity to PIK 2, including the possibility of building an LRT line that is connected to the area.

"I see the potential of this area is very large. With better transportation connectivity, I believe this area will become a new magnet for religious and cultural tourism in Jakarta," said Pramono.
