New Cluster Appears In Solo, 38 Santri At Ponpes Laweyan Exposed To COVID-19

SOLO - Surakarta Mayor Gibran Rakabuming Raka said that currently a new cluster of COVID-19 outbreaks has emerged in his area. The COVID-19 cluster occurred in one of the Islamic boarding schools in Bumi Village, Laweyan District.

Gibran said there were as many as 38 students at the Islamic boarding school who were positive for COVID-19.

Currently, all the students have been taken to the Haji Donohudan Dormitory to undergo a centralized quarantine. To ascertain how far the spread, currently it is still conducting an investigation.

"We are tracing, testing further. Anyway, there is a new cluster, we immediately lock it. The Islamic boarding school is temporarily locked down, hopefully it doesn't spread more widely," he said, quoted by Antara, Tuesday, June 8.

It is suspected that the cluster came from one of the students who previously traveled back and forth on Lebaran 2021.

As a result of the emergence of the new cluster, his party will review the face-to-face learning plan (PTM), which was originally to be carried out starting in July 2021. However, Gibran hopes that PTM can still be carried out according to schedule.

Meanwhile, the Chief Executive of the Surakarta City COVID-19 Task Force Daily, Ahyani, said that currently all students are asymptomatic (OTG) and are therefore undergoing isolation. Regarding the origin of the virus, he will confirm it first.

"It looks like it's from the students who have traveled back and forth," he said.

Ahyani said that the contact tracing itself has now been carried out on 68 people. He also made sure that no occupants of the cottage interacted with outsiders.

"Thus tracing can be more controlled," he said.
