Police Arrest 14 People Related to the Riot at the Lukas Enembe Stadium

JAKARTA - Police have arrested 14 people related to the riots that occurred at the Lukas Enembe Stadium, Kampung Harapan, Jayapura Regency.

The riot occurred shortly after Persipura Jayapura lost to Adyaksa FC with a score of 0-1 in the Indonesian League 2 playoff.

"The 14 people who were secured are still being intensively investigated by investigators at the Jayapura Police in Doyo, Jayapura Regency," said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Cahyo Sukamito, as reported by ANTARA, Saturday, May 9.

The dozen people were detained around the scene to ensure their involvement in the riots.

"Of the 14 people who were secured, none have been named as suspects," he said.

From the report received, it was revealed that the impact of the riots resulted in 67 two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles being damaged, lost and burned.

In addition, 10 members of the National Police who were on duty at the stadium and a civilian were injured.

"One of the personnel of the Jayapura Police, namely Ipda Arjuna, is currently still being treated at the Bhayangkara Jayapura Hospital due to the injuries he suffered," explained Cahyo.

Regarding the amount of losses due to the riots, Cahyo said it could not be determined because it was still being investigated and recorded.

"Members are still conducting data collection to find out how much the damage around the Lukas Enembe Stadium has caused," he continued.
