Former Secretary of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi Summoned by the KPK Today in Connection with the DJKA Bribery Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scheduled an examination of the former expert staff of the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) era of Budi Karya Sumadi, Robby Kurniawan today. He will be questioned as a witness to the alleged bribery of the railway line development project of the Director General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub).

"The examination was carried out at the KPK's Merah Putih building," KPK spokesman Budi Prasetyo told reporters in a written statement, Monday, May 4.

Budi has not detailed Robby's presence. But, this is the second summons for him.

Meanwhile, Robby served as a special staff for logistics and multimodal when Budi Karya Sumadi served as Minister of Transportation in the era of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi).

Budi Karya is also known to have been questioned in this case at the Semarang City BPKP office on Monday, March 9. He was then questioned about the work of the DJKA project in a number of areas on the islands of Sumatra and Java which were colored by the provision of bribes.

Not only that, Budi Karya was also questioned about the involvement of legislators of Commission V of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2019-2024. The information was requested by investigators to investigate the actions of Sudewo as a former Member of Commission V of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia who had been named a suspect as well as looking for the involvement of other parties.

As previously reported, the KPK continues to develop the bribery case for the railway line development project of the Director General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) for East Java. Most recently, Sudewo as a former Member of Commission V of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia for the period 2020-2024 was named a suspect.

Then, the KPK also promised to investigate the members of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the period 2019-2024 who enjoyed the flow of money. One of them is Lasarus as the Chairman of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives at that time and was said in the trial to enjoy a project fee of 10 percent.

Lasarus is suspected of receiving money flows with members of Commission V of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the period 2019-2024 from various factions who are suspected of enjoying fees. They include Ridwan Bae, Hamka Baco Kady to Sadarestuwati.
