Today, Student Demonstrations, 3,225 Joint Personnel Guard Several Points in Jakarta

JAKARTA - The Central Jakarta Metro Police deployed 3,225 joint personnel to secure the demonstration of students and community elements at a number of points, Monday, May 4.

Head of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, Kombes Pol Reynold E.P. Hutagalung, said that security was carried out with a humanistic approach and still respected the rights of citizens to express their opinions in public.

"We are here to serve the public who convey aspirations in a humanistic, professional, and according to rules," said Reynold, quoted by Antara.

Thousands of personnel are a combination of the Polda Metro Jaya, the Central Jakarta Metro Police, and the police.

A number of action points that are the focus of security include the front of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendikti Saintek) by BEM SI and the Civil Society Coalition which is scheduled to take place at 11.00 WIB.

Other actions were held by DEMA UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta and mass elements in the Gambir area at 10.00 WIB, as well as the BEM of the PGRI Indraprasta University (Unindra) in front of the MPR/DPR Building at 11.00 WIB.

The police ensured that all security arrangements were carried out to maintain order and the smooth running of community activities during the action.
