More than 3,500 NATO troops take part in war exercises in Poland

JAKARTA - More than 3,500 soldiers from several NATO member countries, including the United States, are involved in the Amber Shock 2026 Exercise in northeastern Poland, near the Russian border, according to a report by Polish TV station RMF24.

The exercise began in the field of Orzysz City on Saturday (2/5) and will last until Friday (8/5) with a shooting exercise ending, the report added.

Spokesperson for the North East Multinational Corps (MNC-NE) Dariusz Guzendamengatakan the exercise was organized by MNCNEtogether with the 2nd Cavalry Regiment of the United States Army involving hundreds of military vehicles.

"During the exercise, participants will undergo tactical and fire suppression tasks, improve interoperability, and demonstrate the unity and reliability of NATO members in fulfilling their common security commitments," said Guzenda as quoted by Antara.

Amber Shock 2026 is part of the Saber Strike 2026 exercise series, which took place in Poland, Lithuania, and Finland from April to May.

The headquarters of the Multinational Division North-East (MND-NE) coordinates the activities of NATO multinational combat groups deployed in Lithuania and Poland as a responsibility that includes coordination of training and situational awareness in the region.

The headquarters also maintains readiness to conduct collective defense operations in accordance with Article 5 of the Washington Treaty.

In recent years, Russia has frequently voiced its concerns over NATO's unprecedented activity near its western borders.

The Kremlin stressed that Russia does not pose a threat to anyone, but will not ignore actions that could potentially harm its interests.
