BANDUNG - The Bandung District Court (PN) has sentenced YouTuber Muhammad Adimas Firdaus alias Resbob to a 2-year and 6-month prison sentence in connection with the case of hate speech against the Sunda tribe through a live broadcast on social media.
The Chairman of the Panel of Judges, Adeng Abdul Kohar, stated that the defendant was proven to have legally and convincingly committed the crime of broadcasting or broadcasting a recording containing hostile statements through information technology.
"To impose a sentence on the defendant Muhammad Adimas Firdaus alias Resbob for 2 and 6 months," said Adeng when reading the verdict at the Bandung District Court, Wednesday, April 29.
The panel of judges also set the period of arrest and detention that the defendant had served to be reduced entirely from the sentence imposed, and ordered the defendant to remain in custody.
In its consideration, the panel of judges also considered aggravating and mitigating circumstances.
The aggravating factor is that the defendant is evasive in giving testimony.
"What is mitigating, the defendant has not been convicted and the defendants have been polite," said Adeng.
During the trial, the judge gave the opportunity to the public prosecutor and the defendant's legal advisor to file a legal appeal.
However, both parties are still considering the verdict.
"I thought about it first," Resbob told the panel of judges.
Previously, Resbob was charged with spreading hate speech through social media.
In his indictment, the Bandung District Attorney's Office (Kejari), on Monday, December 8, 2026, said that Resbob who was at his residence was picked up by two of his friends who are now witnesses.
Resbob then uttered hate speech which was spread on social media so that it made the community, especially the Sunda tribe, angry.
The prosecutor assessed that the statement had fulfilled the elements of a criminal act as stipulated in Article 243 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 243 of Law Number 1 of 2026.
