Ganjar Gives Special Instructions For 8 COVID-19 Red Zone Areas

SEMARANG - Central Java Governor Ganjar Pranowo gave special instructions to eight regions that became red zones after there was an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.

Special instructions in the form of increasing the number of bed capacities, both ICU and isolation rooms and preparing centralized isolation. This was conveyed by Ganjar while chairing an online evaluation meeting for handling COVID-19 at the Central Java Governor's office in Semarang, Monday, June 7.

"As predicted, two weeks after the holidays there was an increase. Initially only three districts/cities were included in the red zone, namely Kudus, Brebes, and Sragen, but now there are additions to Demak, Grobogan, Pati, Jepara, and Tegal regencies," he was quoted as saying. Among.

To the eight district governments that are in the red zone, Ganjar asked to immediately implement the special instructions he gave.

"If you can't, immediately coordinate with us because we have a number of centralized isolation places ready. Not only in the district/city, I ask the village head/lurah to reactivate Jogo Tonggo. Also prepare a centralized isolation place in the village to handle this," he said.

Ganjar also requested that judicial operations be increased in the eight areas and that health protocols must be strictly applied to crowded places, even if necessary to close them.

Ganjar also asked the eight red zone areas to boost vaccination because the Ministry of Health was ready to increase the stock of vaccines to tackle the potential spread of COVID-19.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Central Java Provincial Health Office, Yulianto Prabowo, added that active cases of COVID-19 in Central Java currently reached 10,297 cases and of that total, 5,420 patients were treated and 4,877 patients were isolated.

"The highest active cases occurred in Kudus, Demak, Tegal Regency, Semarang City, and Banyumas. While the highest new cases were Kudus, Demak, Semarang City, Tegal Regency, and Brebes," he said.
