DPR asks the police to take action against perpetrators of child violence in Daycare Jogja: There must be no compromise

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission IX of the House of Representatives, Nihayatul Wafiroh, strongly condemned the alleged practice of child abuse at a daycare center in Umbulharjo, Yogyakarta City.

He emphasized that all forms of violence against children cannot be tolerated, especially when it occurs in a space that should be a safe place for children's growth and development.

"This is a very despicable act and violates human values. Children who should have received protection have become victims of violence," Nihayatul told reporters, Monday, April 27.

The Chairperson of the National Women's DPP also urged the police to immediately investigate the case to its roots, including uncovering the possibility of other victims.

"Law enforcement must act quickly, transparently, and decisively. There must be no compromise with perpetrators of child violence," he said.

In addition, Nihayatul also asked the local Education Office not to stand idly by. He considered that there was a need for firm administrative action, including the revocation of the daycare's operating permit if it was proven to have violated the law.

"The relevant services must immediately conduct a thorough evaluation and revoke the daycare's permit if it is proven to have committed abuse. This is important to provide a deterrent effect while protecting other children," said the PKB legislator from Dapil East Java III.

Nihayatul also appealed to the public to be more vigilant about the potential for violence in childcare environments. He encouraged parents not to hesitate to report if they find signs of violence.

"I remind all people wherever they are to be more aware. Never hesitate to report if you see or suspect any form of child abuse," he concluded.
