Preparation For Work From Yogyakarta, Deputy Mayor: Yogyakarta Has Lots Of Co-Working Space

JAKARTA - Various efforts to restore economic conditions from the pressure of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to be carried out by the City of Yogyakarta, one of which is ensuring the readiness of facilities and infrastructure to realize the Work from Yogyakarta program.

"I think the facilities and infrastructure related to the needs of Work from Yogyakarta are ready," said Deputy Mayor of Yogyakarta Heroe Poerwadi in Yogyakarta, as reported by Antara, Monday, June 7.

According to him, the readiness includes a reliable network and internet speed to the availability of a comfortable workplace.

“Yogyakarta has many co-working spaces with adequate facilities. Both managed by the government and the private sector. Everything is ready to be used to support this remote work,” he said.

He ensured that workers could carry out their work routines well, work optimally while enjoying the atmosphere of various tourist attractions in Yogyakarta.

Heroe added that if the Work from Yogyakarta program is implemented, it will be part of the economic recovery strategy called Jogja for All, after carried out Jogja for Jogja in the previous year.

“Yogyakarta is starting to open up to continue to increase economic growth. Over the past year, we have focused more on efforts to drive the economy by relying on the strength of the community independently because tourism and education have not been running optimally," he said.

Previously, the Head of the Yogyakarta City Tourism Office, Wahyu Hendratmoko, said he was ready if the ministry carried out Work from Yogyakarta program following the same program carried out in Bali.

"Of course we welcome the program if it really will be carried out in Yogyakarta because under current conditions what we are doing is ensuring excellent tourism services," he said.

With the Work from Yogyakarta program, he continued, it is hoped that MICE activities (meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions) will revive.

"I think all tourism service business actors are ready if the program is continued to Yogyakarta," he said.
