He emphasized the involvement of various parties in the renovation program of 152 houses and the revitalization of the slum area in Menteng Tenggulun, as the key to success, ranging from communities, the private sector, to professional organizations that contribute actively.
"We collaborate with the Indonesian Architects Association, there are from PNM who take care of the garbage and empower the family economy, Astra. I count there are (about) eight parties involved," said Ara.
The program also shows that solutions to slum areas do not always have to rely on large budgets, but can be done through cross-sectoral cooperation.
Maruarar is optimistic that the model can be widely replicated because it is flexible and able to effectively adjust the needs of each region.
He hopes that with the expansion of the program, more slums can be arranged into a more decent, healthy, and productive environment for the community.
The renovation of the uninhabitable house in Menteng Tenggulun, South Jakarta, is targeted to be completed by mid-June through a collaborative effort.
