TANJUNG SELOR - The North Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda) revealed 75 cases of narcotics circulation from February to April 2026. From the disclosure, the police arrested 104 suspects and seized evidence of methamphetamine and ecstasy with a total of more than 4.2 kilograms.

Kombes Slamet revealed that from all the cases, the Kaltara Regional Police Narcotics Division recorded the largest seizure of methamphetamine, namely 3.187.4 grams from 14 police reports with 15 suspects.
"Meanwhile, the Bulungan Police revealed 15 cases with 16 suspects and 35.94 grams of evidence," he said.
Then, the Tarakan Police handled 14 cases with 20 suspects, seized 861.31 grams of methamphetamine and two ecstasy pills.
"Nunukan Police became the region with the most suspects, namely 39 people from 23 police reports, with 132.62 grams of evidence," said Slamet.
"Furthermore, the Malinau Police uncovered five cases with eight suspects and 51.25 grams of evidence. Meanwhile, the Tana Tidung Police handled four cases with six suspects and 1.08 grams of evidence," he continued.
Kombes Slamet explained that, overall, the evidence seized was in the form of 4,269.6 grams of methamphetamine and two ecstasy tablets. All evidence has been tested in a forensic laboratory and has been found to contain methamphetamine and MDMA.
"Of the total evidence, 3,044.85 grams of methamphetamine were destroyed after some of them were set aside for evidentiary purposes in court," explained Slamet.
Meanwhile, the Director of Narcotics Investigation of the Kaltara Police, Kombes Pol Hamid Andri Soemantri, said that this disclosure is expected to prevent the abuse of narcotics by tens of thousands of people.
"We estimate that more than 60 thousand lives were saved from potential abuse," he said.
He emphasized that the suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics as amended by Law Number 1 of 2023. They are threatened with a minimum sentence of six years in prison to the death penalty or life imprisonment.
The Kaltara Police confirmed that they would continue to strengthen the crackdown on the narcotics distribution network, especially in border areas that are prone to becoming a route for illegal goods.
"We also remind the public not to be involved in the circulation of drugs and immediately report if they find suspicious activities," he said.
