JAKARTA - The DKI Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded as many as 21 neighborhood units (RT) in South Jakarta (Jaksel) and East Jakarta (Jaktim) were flooded due to the overflow of the Ciliwung River, Friday, April 17.

"The water level ranges from 20 to 80 centimeters (cm)," said Head of the BPBD DKI Jakarta Disaster Data and Information Center, Mohamad Yohan, Friday morning.

According to him, the flood that submerged 21 RT occurred due to the overflow of the Ciliwung River after the Jakarta area and its surroundings were hit by heavy rain.

He said that heavy rain on Thursday (16/4) caused an increase in water levels at the Depok Monitoring Post (Alert 3) at 21.00 WIB and Bendung Katulampa (Alert 3) at 23.00 WIB, resulting in a number of puddles in the DKI Jakarta area.

"BPBD notes that currently, there are 21 RT that are submerged in flood," said Yohan.

He revealed that the handling efforts had been carried out by the DKI BPBD by deploying personnel to monitor the condition of the puddles in each area.

In addition, his party also coordinated the elements of the Water Resources Service, the Road Construction Service, and the Fire and Rescue Service to drain the puddles and ensure that the water lines function properly.
