Helicopter that lost contact was found falling in the Sekadau forest, West Kalimantan

JAKARTA - Basarnas reported the discovery of debris suspected to be part of the Airbus H130 PK-CFX helicopter which was reported missing and crashed during a flight in the Sekadau Regency forest area, West Kalimantan (Kalbar).

Deputy Operations and Preparedness of Basarnas Edy Prakoso said that the debris suspected to be part of the tail of the plane was observed by air by a joint SAR team using the TNI AU Super Puma Helicopter.

"The results of aerial monitoring allegedly found the position of the helicopter. The results of aerial monitoring at 15.25 WIB found debris suspected to be the tail of the PK-CFX helicopter at a distance of approximately three kilometers to the west from the starting point of the lost contact," he said, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, April 16.

Edy ensured that the information on the findings had been forwarded to the land element to facilitate the search team to the coordinate point of the location of the plane crash to carry out the evacuation process.

The Airbus H130 type H-130T2 helicopter is known to carry eight people, consisting of Captain Marindra W (Pilot), Harun Arasyd (Co-pilot), and six passengers, namely Patrick K, Victor T, Charles L, Joko C, Fauzie O, and Sugito.

Based on the chronology data, the helicopter took off from the PT CMA helipad in Nanga Keruap Village, Melawi Regency, at 07.34 WIB.

The helicopter then reportedly lost contact at 08.39 WIB on its flight to the PT GAN helipad in Teluk Bakung Village, Sungai Ambawang, Kubu Raya Regency.

Basarnas recorded the last position of the helicopter from the emergency signal before the loss of contact was detected around the Nanga Taman District, Sekadau Regency.

The joint SAR team consisting of aircraft crew, Kopasgat personnel, and the Pontianak SAR Office - Sintang SAR Post, continues to try to search as optimally as possible.
