JAKARTA - The Directorate General (Ditjen) of Immigration of the Ministry of Immigration and Correction (Kemenimipas) has taken firm steps against the illegal activities of foreign nationals in the country.
A total of 13 Japanese nationals involved in an online scamming syndicate in the Sentul City area, Bogor, are scheduled to be deported to their home country this week.
Head of the Directorate of Supervision of the Directorate General of Immigration, Arief Eka Riyanto, confirmed that the forced repatriation execution would be carried out in mid-April.
"For the 13 Japanese foreigners who committed scamming in Bogor, they will be deported on the 15th of this month," said Arief when giving a statement in Jakarta, Monday (14/4/2026).
This syndicate was previously arrested by the Bogor Class I Immigration Office on March 2, 2026 in the Babakan Madang District area.
During the operation, the intelligence team secured the perpetrators from three different houses in Sentul City.
The modus operandi they run is very neat, namely posing as Japanese police officers to intimidate victims through short message applications and fake websites to steal financial data.
Based on the results of the examination, it was found that 12 perpetrators entered Indonesia using a pre-investment visit visa (D12) and one person using an on-arrival visa.
They carried out activities that were not in accordance with the provisions of their documents, all of which were declared to have violated Law Number 6 of 2011 concerning Immigration.
The Immigration Office ensures that this deportation process is not just an expulsion, but still through strict international coordination.
"Their return process was escorted by immigration officers and accompanied by Japanese immigration officers," Arief explained further about the technical security during the trip.
This action is also part of the series of Wirawasp operations in 2026 which was held from April 7 to 11.
In addition to the Japanese group, the Directorate General of Immigration has recorded a total of 346 foreign nationals from various countries such as China, Pakistan, and Nigeria who also violated immigration rules in various regions of Indonesia.
