AMBON - A fisherman from the Administrative Village of Parigi, Wahai Village, Central Maluku Regency, Maluku, who had been reported missing for several days was finally found safe and sound in the waters of Yelu Village, Misol Island, Raja Ampat Regency, West Papua.
Head of the Basarnas Ambon Search and Rescue Office, Muhamad Arafah, said that the fisherman named Roni Fatubun (40) was first found by residents with his longboat on Saturday, April 11 at around 18.00 WIT.
"The fisherman, who is known as Roni Fatubun, was initially found and rescued by the community around the Yelu Village Waters with his long boat," he said in Ambon Maluku, Antara, Sunday, April 12.
After being found, the victim was immediately handed over to the TNI AL Misol Island Marine Patrol Post to receive medical treatment due to his weak condition.
Meanwhile, the joint SAR team, which had been searching using RIBs to a number of coordinate points since the morning, continued the operation until finally receiving information from the Wahai Police Chief that the victim had been found safe.
"Alhamdulillah, now the family has arrived at the TNI AL Patrol Post to pick up the victim back to Parigi Village," said Arafah.
After being picked up by the family, the victim and the entourage traveled back to Seram Island and arrived safely at Parigi Village at 17.00 WIT.
Previously, a report of life-threatening conditions was received by the SAR Alert Unit of Bula from the Wahai Police Chief on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at around 13.20 WIT.
Based on the report, the victim departed from Misol Island to East Seram Regency on April 9 at around 15.00 WIT and is estimated to arrive the next day. However, the victim did not arrive at the destination so that a search operation was triggered.
