BANJARMASIN - Head of the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu) of South Kalimantan (Kalsel) Erna Kasypiah reminded all parties not to issue provocation statements ahead of the re-voting (PSU) for the South Kalimantan gubernatorial election. The two candidate pairs that are re-battling in the South Kalimantan gubernatorial election are Sahbirin Noor-Muhidin and Denny Indrayana-Difriadi Darjat.

"All of us must encourage the creation of a conducive atmosphere for the safe, peaceful, orderly and smooth operation of the PSU," said Erna, quoted by Antara, Sunday, June 6.

The South Kalimantan Bawaslu has identified the existence of banners, billboards or other forms that show partiality, benefit or harm one of the pairs of candidates, disrupting the process of organizing the election stages. This includes obstructing public political participation at large and creating an atmosphere that is not conducive to a safe, peaceful, orderly and smooth PSU.

Therefore, Bawaslu has brought order to all of these violations, in order to encourage wider community participation and create a conducive South Kalimantan during the PSU stage until voting day.

Erna gave an example of a leaflet asking for money politics as long as it is not followed by requests for bribes. He emphasized that this was a big mistake and did not educate the public as owners of voting rights.

Based on Law Number 10 of 2016 concerning Pilkada, it is regulated that both the giver and the recipient of political bribes are sentenced to a minimum of 36 months and a maximum of 72 months in prison, plus a fine of at least Rp. 200 million to a maximum of Rp. 1 billion.

The PSU for the South Kalimantan gubernatorial election will be held at 827 polling stations (TPS) in seven sub-districts in one city and two districts, namely South Banjarmasin District in Banjarmasin City, five sub-districts in Banjar Regency, and 24 TPS in Binuang District, Tapin Regency.

The 2020 South Kalimantan gubernatorial election was decided by the Constitutional Court to hold a PSU between two candidates, namely the incumbent candidate pair 01 Sahbirin Noor-Muhidin and candidate pair 02 Denny Indrayana-Difriadi Darjat.
