Sharif University of Technology Bombarded by US-Israel, Iranian Foreign Minister Quotes Prophet's Hadith

JAKARTA - Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi spoke out following the massive US-Israeli attack again targeting civilian educational infrastructure in Iran.

This time the US-Israeli attack launched on Monday, April 6 morning local time, destroyed the Sharif Technology University in Tehran.

"The Israeli-US aggressors have bombed the Iranian MIT. This follows attacks on other universities," Araghchi said on his X account, Monday, April 6.

Sharif University is often compared to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US, for its role in advancing scientific studies in Iran.

According to Araghchi, the destruction of Sharif University will not dampen the ethos of the Persian nation, which is the majority of ethnic groups in Iran in demanding knowledge. Araghchi emphasized that it had been predicted in the hadith of the Prophet Muhammad SAW.

"1,400 years ago, the Prophet Muhammad said that even if knowledge was in the Pleiades star cluster, the Iranians would be able to obtain it," Araghchi said.

The hadith in question here is about the Prophet Muhammad's companion, Salman al-Farisi, who was a Persian, and was narrated by Imam Bukhari and Imam Muslim, which reads as follows:

"If faith were in the star of Tsurayya (a very high place), it would be reached by some people from this nation (Persia)."
