KAI Land in Tanah Abang is Controlled by Third Parties, Maruarar Sirait: The State Must Not Lose

JAKARTA - Minister of Housing and Spatial Planning (PKP) Maruarar Sirait or commonly known as Ara, said that there was land owned by PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) in the Tanah Abang area, Jakarta, which was controlled by third parties, even though it had legal force regarding ownership at PT KAI.

Based on the information he received, Ara said there were three locations of land that would soon be reviewed to resolve the issue.

"I just got information from the President Director of the Railway and also from Mr. Dony Oskaria (Head of the State-Owned Enterprise Regulatory Agency/BP BUMN), there is land owned by the railway that has a permanent legal force, but is controlled by a third party in Tanah Abang. How many locations, sir? Three locations," he said in a press conference in Jakarta, Sunday.

Ara emphasized that the land belongs to the state and must be used for the benefit of the community.

He emphasized that the state must not lose in defending assets that have a fixed legal force, especially if used for public interest.

"It belongs to the state and has a permanent legal force. I emphasize, the state must not lose to anyone, especially when it is used for the benefit of the Indonesian people. The state must not lose to anyone. So I make sure it is like that," he said.

Furthermore, Ara ensured that the government would act decisively so that the assets would not continue to be controlled by other parties.

He also added that the government was on the right side in managing state assets and must have the courage to discipline it.

In addition, he asked that information be conveyed openly and emphasized that state assets must be used as much as possible for the benefit of the community, especially the low-income (MBR), and must not be controlled by other parties.
