JAKARTA - The Head of the Defense Information Bureau of the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General TNI Rico Ricardo Sirait, said that the bodies of TNI soldiers who died in Lebanon were planned to be sent home on Friday (3/4) or Saturday (4/4).
"The departure is likely to be carried out on Saturday if it is not Friday," said Rico, quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, April 2.
Rico has not been able to confirm the date of departure of the body because at present the flight schedule from the Lebanese region is very minimal due to the ongoing conflict.
Rico continued that until now the bodies of the TNI soldiers were safe at the Saida Hospital in the Lebanese region.
"Currently, he is at the Saida Hospital in Lebanon and is undergoing autopsy of the body, which is planned to be returned to the country," said Rico.
Previously, three TNI personnel on a United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) mission were reported to have died while on duty in Lebanon in March 2026.
Based on TNI data, those who fell were Head Soldier Farizal Rhomadhon, Sergeant First Class Muhammad Nur Ichwan, and Captain (Inf) Zulmi Aditya Iskandar.
Fahrizal died as a result of an indirect artillery attack near Adchit Al Qusayr, southern Lebanon, Sunday (29/3). Meanwhile, Nur Ichwan and Zulmi died due to vehicle explosions near Bani Haiyyan, Monday (30/3).
