Landslide in Makassar, Traffic Jam up to 2 Km

MAKASSAR - A landslide has hit the connecting road from Maros Regency to Bone, South Sulawesi, namely in the Camba, Kappang area. This caused the area to be jammed for 2 kilometers.

"Soil and stone material covering the road body caused the vehicle queue to flow up to approximately 2 kilometers in both directions," said one of the drivers, Jusman from Bone Regency, when he was met in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi, quoting ANTARA on Sunday, March 29.

According to him, this landslide occurred after heavy rain hit the area from morning to noon. As a result, the soil condition became unstable in the hilly area, triggering a landslide that closed the main road access connecting the regions.

A number of motorists, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled, were forced to stop and wait for the evacuation process of the landslide material. Some of them even chose to turn around to find alternative routes, even though they had to travel a longer distance.

Officers from the police along with related agencies immediately went to the location to arrange traffic and help the cleaning process.

Heavy equipment was deployed to speed up the evacuation of soil and rock material that covered the roadbed.
