JAKARTA - The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran has stated that it has detained 10 more people suspected of working with the United States and Israel.
"Ten individuals who collaborated with the United States and Israel have been identified and detained," the IRGC said, quoted by the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) on Tuesday (10/3).
The IRGC added that the prisoners would receive "wartime punishment."
On February 28, the United States and Israel launched an attack on a number of targets in Iran, including in Tehran, which caused damage and civilian casualties. Iran then retaliated by attacking Israeli territory and US military facilities in the Middle East.
The US and Israel initially claimed that the attack, which they called "preemptive", was necessary to face the threat they considered to come from Iran's nuclear program, but then they immediately showed that they wanted to see a change of power in Iran.
Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was reportedly assassinated on the first day of the military operation. The Islamic Republic of Iran declared a 40-day national mourning period.
Meanwhile, President Vladimir Putin described Khamenei's assassination as a cynical violation of international law. Meanwhile, the Russian Foreign Ministry condemned the US-Israeli operation and called for an immediate de-escalation and cessation of hostilities.
