TANJUNG SELOR - The North Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda) has begun mapping a number of potential vulnerabilities ahead of the homecoming and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah or 2026 AD celebrations.

This step was discussed in a cross-sectoral coordination meeting led by the Head of the Kaltara Police, Inspector General Djati Wiyoto Abadhy at the Kaltara Police Headquarters, Tuesday, March 10.

"This meeting involves local government elements, the TNI, and related agencies to discuss a number of crucial issues that may arise during the homecoming and Lebaran holidays," said Inspector General Djati.

"Starting from the smoothness of transportation flows, the potential for an increase in crime, to a surge in community activities in crowded centers and tourist attractions," he continued.

The Police Chief emphasized that this year's Lebaran security was focused on proactive steps in the field by strengthening cross-agency coordination. One of the main concerns is the smooth flow of homecoming and return flows, especially on land and sea transportation routes connecting a number of regions in this 34th province.

"Security for Eid al-Fitr must be prepared thoroughly through synergy between all agencies. The goal is so that the public can carry out homecoming and celebrate Eid safely, orderly, and smoothly," he said.

In addition to traffic flow arrangements, the police also anticipate a potential increase in conventional crimes such as theft with a charge, theft with violence, and motor vehicle theft (3C) which usually increases when residents' homes are left by their owners to return home.

"Potential disturbances in public order and discipline such as 3C must be anticipated early. Therefore, security will be strengthened, including in residential areas, shopping centers, and crowded places," he said.

The Regional Police Chief explained that the Kaltara Regional Police also paid attention to the potential for a surge in visitors to a number of tourist attractions after Lebaran. This condition is considered necessary to anticipate to prevent traffic congestion, accidents, and security disturbances at tourist locations.

"On the other hand, the stability of the supply and prices of basic commodities is also part of the attention in securing this year's Lebaran. The police will coordinate with the Regional Government and related agencies to ensure that logistics distribution continues to run smoothly during the long holiday period," he explained.

Inspector General Djati hopes that through cross-sectoral coordination, the potential for security and public order disturbances during the homecoming and Eid al-Fitr celebrations in North Kalimantan can be suppressed so that the situation remains conducive.
