Ratas in Hambalang, Prabowo Instructs to Strengthen the Role of National Mineral Companies and Evaluate Self-sufficiency

BOGOR - President Prabowo Subianto has given clear instructions to the Red and White Cabinet to strengthen the role of the National Mineral Company (Perminas). This order was conveyed while leading a Limited Meeting (Ratas) at his private residence, Hambalang, West Java, Monday night, March 9.

The strengthening of Perminas is considered a strategic step for the government to ensure the management of Indonesia's mineral resources is more integrated and provides significant added value for the national economy.

"The President held a limited meeting related to the National Mineral Company with a number of members of the Red and White Cabinet to discuss various downstream agendas in the future," read an official statement from the Government Communication Agency via the @presidenrepublikindonesia account, quoted Tuesday, March 10.

Encourage Domestic Processing and Technology

In his instructions, President Prabowo emphasized that the acceleration of downstream processing should not run on its own. This process must be accompanied by the development of domestic technology, strengthening industrial capacity, and improving the quality of human resources (HR).

This step was taken so that Indonesia is able to transform into a global production and innovation center, as well as strengthening national energy independence.

The strategic meeting was attended by a number of key ministers, including Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, to the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Brian Yuliarto who also served as Head of the Mineral Industry Agency.

Swasembada Evaluation and Preparation for Eid al-Fitr 2026

In addition to focusing on the mineral sector, the meeting in Hambalang also discussed the evaluation of the food and energy self-sufficiency program. Given the time approaching mid-March 2026, the President also highlighted the government's readiness ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H.

The Secretary of the Cabinet (Seskab) Teddy Indra Wijaya explained that this meeting focused on two other main agendas, namely the progress of self-sufficiency and the stability of basic needs.

"This strategic meeting is focused on two main agendas of the government, namely the progress of food and energy self-sufficiency, and the readiness for Eid al-Fitr to ensure the availability of food and LPG supplies," said the Presidential Secretariat, Teddy, in an official statement.

Also present at the meeting were the leadership of the TNI, the Presidential Chief of Staff Muhammad Qodari, the Director of PT Pindad Sigit P. Santosa, to the Commissioner of Pertamina Hasan Nasbi to ensure that cross-sectoral coordination runs optimally.
