KENDARI - The Directorate of Traffic (Ditlantas) of the South Sulawesi Police (Sultra) together with the South Sulawesi Class II Land Transportation Management Office (BPTD) have started to tighten supervision of the 1447 Hijriah Eid homecoming transport fleet or 2026. This step is taken to ensure the safety of all passengers in the Bumi Anoa region.

Director of Traffic, Polda Sultra, Kombes Pol Argowiyono said that the tightening of supervision was carried out through vehicle inspection and legality test or ramp check. The inspection targeted the Inter-City Inter-Provincial (AKAP) bus at Puuwatu Terminal, Kendari City since Monday.

The implementation of this inspection is aimed at ensuring that all vehicles and drivers are in a ready and fit condition before serving the homecoming flow. The police want to ensure that there are no technical obstacles that can trigger accidents on the highway.

"We have checked and given a roadworthy status for those who meet the requirements. This is done to ensure that the vehicles used have undergone technical inspections," said Argowiyono when met in Kendari.

During the inspection, the joint team targeted various vital components of vehicles ranging from braking systems, lamp functions, tire conditions, wipers, to the completeness of vehicle registration documents. In addition to technical aspects, field officers also provide safety education directly to bus drivers.

Argowiyono emphasized that his party would not tolerate vehicles that ignored safety procedures. Buses that have been declared fit will be stamped with a special sticker as a marker for the public so that they will not hesitate when traveling.

"After this socialization, we will give a stern warning to the bus company (PO) for vehicles that do not have a ramp check sticker because they are considered not to pay attention to safety rules," said Argowiyono.

In line with this, the Head of the South Sulawesi Class II BPTD, Husni Mubarak added that vehicles that were found to not meet the technical and administrative requirements were prohibited from operating temporarily. This ban is in effect until all safety standards are met by the management.

"Currently there are 16 PO with a total of 96 fleets operating in the Southeast Sulawesi region. All of these fleets are targets of routine surveillance that will continue to be held periodically ahead of Eid al-Fitr," said Husni Mubarak.

The collaborative steps between the police, BPTD, Transportation Service, and Jasa Raharja are expected to reduce the number of traffic accidents. In addition, this effort is carried out to provide a sense of security and comfort for people who travel home in 2026.
