Gus Yahya: Prabowo Accepted by All Parties so He Can Mediate Conflicts

JAKARTA - The General Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama General Board (PBNU) Yahya Cholil Staquf alias Gus Yahya considers President Prabowo Subianto to be a figure who is accepted by all parties so that he can become a mediator in conflicts in the Middle East.

"President Prabowo Subianto is an actor accepted by all parties so that he has the opportunity to be a kind of mediator of communication between the parties involved," said Gus Yahya after attending the President's meeting with Islamic ulama and Islamic organizations at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Thursday, March 6, reported by ANTARA.

In the meeting, according to him, President Prabowo emphasized his commitment to do anything to contribute to helping create peace and resolve the conflict.

Moreover, he said, the conflict in the Middle East has the potential to directly impact the interests of the country's domestic interests.

"What is clear is that the President reiterated his commitment to do whatever he can to contribute," he said.

Previously, President Prabowo Subianto shared the moment of breaking the fast with Rais Aam, the General Manager of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Miftachul Akhyar, Muhammadiyah Chairman (Ketum) Prof. Haedar Nashir, and the Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) KH Anwar Iskandar at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta, Thursday.

In one corner of the room at Istana Merdeka, as shared by the official @prabowo social media account, President Prabowo enjoyed a meal of takjil and dates while breaking the fast with Rais Aam PBNU, Ketum of the Central Management (PP) of Muhammadiyah, and Ketum MUI at a small round table that was enough for four people.

President Prabowo was seated flanked by the General Chair of the Central Board (PP) of Muhammadiyah Prof. Haedar Nashir on the right side, then by the General Chair of the Indonesian Ulema Council KH Anwar on the left side, while Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Akhyar sat opposite President Prabowo.
